Yes, Orion STEM Schools offer a highly rigorous curriculum while balancing the cognitive load for students through PBL and PBEL. The proprietary curriculum is intentionally designed for high-achievers; Module and Lesson Plans ensure rigor through transfer of skills using Harvard’s Making thinking visible routines in every assessment. Students learn from subject experts, work in extended blocks that allow for deep thinking, and apply their learning through projects that require analysis, communication, and revision. The goal is true mastery, not surface-level completion.

Students are nurtured to develop the mindsets required to be not just adaptable but to shape the future through our Signature courses such as ‘Path to Self-Efficacy’, and be able to see challenges as opportunities through our Problem-based Experiential Learning program which embodies Human Centered Design Thinking, which is rooted in Empathy, and Iteration in unfamiliar settings.

Students' progress is measured through a fuller picture of learning than test scores alone. Orion uses projects, portfolios, reflection, presentations, and regular feedback to show how a child is growing academically and personally. Families can see not only what a student knows, but how they think, create, collaborate, and improve.

Every child has their own Individualized My Growth Plan, which stems out of their 360 degree profile, which includes feedback from Educators, Parents, Peers, and students' self-reflection and understanding their Strengths, Weaknesses, and Opportunities to improve, and by going deeper with the fishbone root cause analysis. 

Students learn from Expert Designers, who are subject experts from Kindergarten; Math is taught by Mathematicians, Science by Scientists, Literacy by Literacy experts, and are supported by Caring Designers - Orion's term for the adults who mentor, guide, and advocate for students. These educators are responsible for both high-quality learning and strong relationships, so each child is seen, heard, known, challenged, and supported.

At Orion, we believe Parents are the first and most infuential teachers for children. Parents can involve through Steering Committees, Community Experts and attend events and fairs and summits at the school to be involved in their child’s learning journey. Parents will provide feedback and input on their child on a consistent basis and to be used in their Child’s 360 degree Profile which will serve as the foundation for the child’s My Growth Plan. 

Orion treats AI as a tool that can support learning, creativity, and research when used thoughtfully. Students learn AI literacy, digital citizenship, and clear expectations around ethical use, originality, and attribution so they can use emerging tools responsibly.

We teach students to use it as a creative and research tool — with clear expectations around attribution, critical thinking, and academic integrity.

AI literacy is a core part of our curriculum. Students learn to interrogate AI outputs, understand its limits, and use it to accelerate their thinking rather than replace it. In a world of information overload, the skill isn't knowing the answer — it's knowing how to evaluate one. That's what we teach.
